Tycie Causwell was born in Jamaica, WI, and she earned her Bachelor degree in Education from Bethlehem College and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. Tycie was an educator for 22 years. She relocated to the city of Lauderdale Lakes in 1983 with her three children. Her daughter had special needs and as a mother, her mission was to give her a chance to thrive, hence, her decision to relocate to the USA, a decision that she is still proud of.
Before becoming a commissioner in 2022, she was appointed to and served the city of Lauderdale Lakes as the Chair of the Lauderdale Lakes Historic Preservation Board, a position she held for 13 years and also served our city on the Planning and Zoning Board and the Charter Review Board.
Tycie has always been committed to her community serving as president of the East Gate Homeowners Association for 4 years during her term she established the East Gate Homeowners Scholarship for high school students. In 2012 the board established the Samuel S Brown Room in honor of the first black mayor in Broward County.
Faith and service Tycie has been a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1993. She spearheads the Redeemer Lutheran Food Pantry it just celebrated 25 years of providing food to families suffering from food insecurity.
Tycie is steadfast in her purpose to provide help for residents by guiding her beloved city of Lauderdale Lakes towards a future that makes our city the best place in Broward County, FL to live, work, and play.
She is a mother and a grandmother to a charming grandson and your neighbor.
